What do you do in this job?
Graduates of social care supervise and advise people of any age who need help - from children to senior citizens. They assist them in activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, eating or getting dressed. They also organize recreational activities. They also can be employees of social services - their main tasks are social services, counseling and support in difficult situations, to be easily accessible and citizen friendy .

Employment establishments:
Graduates of social care work
• in elderly and nursing homes
• in hospitals
• in geriatric care and elderly care services
• in care and rehabilitation clinics
• at the social services office
Workplaces:
Graduates of social care work primarily
• in patients' rooms, treatment rooms or washrooms
• in meeting rooms and offices
• in groups rooms and lounges
In addition, they work if necessary,
• outdoor (on walks with nursing home residents or patients)
• in the patient apartments (for outpatient care)
Which graduation is expected?
For the education in the Czech Republic a primary school education is required completion of the 9th grade.
What is important?
Requirements:
• care and sense of responsibility (e.g. the exact observance of care measures or in their documentation)
• Good physical fitness (e.g. for the transfer of patients)
• empathy (e.g. in dealing with patients and relatives)
• emotional stability (e.g. in dealing with very sick or dying patients)
School subjects:
• care, nursing (e.g. caring for patients, care of the elderly)
• leisure activities
• social science (e.g. the understanding of contexts of the social system)
• Czech (e.g. for the creation of care protocols)
• economics (e.g. understanding of legal principles and economic frameworks)
• mathematics (e.g. the billing of nursing care services)
Internship:
a) at premises which must be found by the students themselves
• 2 weeks in 2nd year of training
• 3 weeks in 3rd year of training
• 2 weeks in 4th year of training
b) In the 4th year of training one day a week in the hospital - long-term care department .
During the 4 years of training you earn no money.
